Vitamin B2, one of the B vitamins, is also known as Riboflavin. As with other B vitamins, Riboflavin helps the body to convert food (carbohydrates, fats and proteins) into fuel (glucose), which is "burned" to produce energy. All B vitamins are water-soluble, and must be replenished regularly, since any excess is excreted in the urine.
Vitamin B2 is an important nutrient, and has been used to avoid headaches and some visual disturbances, particularly cataracts. Vitamin B2 is also needed to help the body convert vitamin B6 and folate into active forms. Vitamin B2 / Riboflavin is also important for body growth and red blood cell production.
